  3. Copy the result or download it as a JSON file. Use the related JSON diff checker to compare two versions.

Common questions

What is the difference between formatting and minifying JSON?

Formatting adds indentation and line breaks so nested data is easier to read. Minifying removes unnecessary whitespace. Both first validate JSON syntax and keep the same parsed values.

Why does my JSON fail validation?

JSON requires double quotes around keys and strings. Comments, trailing commas, single quotes, and undefined are not valid JSON. The error message comes from your browser parser and can help locate the problem.

Is the JSON uploaded or saved?

No. Parsing and formatting happen in this tab. Your input is not saved in browser storage or included in tool links. Standard JavaScript number precision applies; quote large numeric identifiers as strings to avoid rounding.
